New Client FAQs
1.
Why now? And why Avidian?
While we have been blessed over the years with a loyal clientele and steady growth, we have also observed that our clients’ needs have grown and evolved as well. Joining forces with a firm to enhance our client experience and a provide a deeper bench of expertise was our next step. After researching a number of local, regional and national firms, we determined that Avidian would be our ideal for our customers.
Avidian’s professional team includes many experienced CFPs®, CPAs, MBAs, Estate Planning Attorneys, and Chartered Financial Analysts. This will allow us to provide our clients even more sophisticated and customized tax and financial planning solutions, additional investment management options, new lending choices, business planning, estate planning and risk management solutions.
2.
Will your investment strategy change?
That’s up to you! The continued market volatility over the last several years has shown that providing investment options beyond publicly traded securities (ETFs, stock, bonds, mutual funds) should greatly benefit our clients.
Through Avidian’s expertise in this area, we will now be able to offer qualified clients the opportunity to participate in direct real estate investments, private equity, private credit, venture capital opportunities and other investment options to enhance our diversified portfolios of publicly traded securities.
You can also remain invested solely in marketable securities if that is your preference.
3.
Will your management fees change?
No. Even though we are greatly increasing the level of professional expertise, investment options and resources available to our clients, your fee rates will not change.
4.
Will we be staying with TD Ameritrade (TDA)?
As you may be aware, Schwab Advisor Services bought TD Ameritrade last year. This will require all TDA accounts to transfer over to Schwab, or to another custodian such as Fidelity, sometime in 2023.
There are currently about 6,500 Advisor firms, such as ours, managing about $1.85 Trillion in assets with TD Ameritrade. We have become increasingly concerned about Schwab’s ability to efficiently handle this unprecedented and massive account transfer process, as well as provide acceptable client service to these accounts after transfer. We have also observed a significant decrease in TDA’s customer service since the merger announcement.
Therefore, we feel transitioning our client accounts to Fidelity as we proceed with the Avidian merger is the best course of action. Attached is some information about the benefits of working with Fidelity.
5.
How does this switch to Avidian and Fidelity work?
It’s actually quite simple. We will send to you a Docusign form to establish the Avidian relationship in early January. We will also provide to you prefilled Docusign applications to open your Fidelity accounts and initiate account transfers. The whole process should take about 10 minutes on your end. That’s it… We will take care of the rest!
6.
When exactly will this transition occur?
Our goal is to complete the transition to Avidian and Fidelity by the end of March, 2023. So, we have plenty of time to walk you through these new resources and investment options that will benefit you.
We will generate our usual client reports for the 4 th quarter of 2022 in early January. Account reports for 2023 forward will be generated through Avidian. In fact, Avidian uses the same portfolio management software and financial planning software that we that we use. So many of your reports will look quite familiar.
